An update finally

As you all can imagine we have been busy and as usual have failed to update the blog despite numerous requests for some fresh photos. Sydney is doing great and growing like a weed. She has started to teeth which has not really been much fun for anyone but she remains cheerful. Her two front teeth can be seen under the gums and we sing all i want for christmas is my two front teeth to her.

Sydney has also come to love food as I am sure is not surprise to anyone. She has a fondness for oatmeal ( she is regularly covered in the stuff) but also enjoys zucchini, roast beef and apple sauce. So far we have not found too much that she does not enjoy.

So please enjoy the following pictures:

Growing Like a Weed

We are in the habit of getting rid of the weeds that grow on the farm, but Sydney seems to be growing faster then them and we couldn't be happier.  She continues to be healthy and often gives us a few hours of sleep at night between feeding.  While we won't have her official weight for the week until our next midwife appointment on Wednesday, we did take a shot at weighing her and it looks like she is right around 4.2kg (9.25lbs) which is some amazing growth.  We are certain she will be even heavier come the middle of next week.

2 1/2 Weeks In

We have been continuing to grow and learn with Sydney and to adjust to life as a family of three.  Our first out of home midwife appointment was this last week and at our last weigh-in she had gained nearly 400 grams(14oz), almost 5 times the minimum 85g (3oz) per week they want to see.  She continues to be in good health and gives both mummy and daddy some sleep...for the most part.

This One is For You

This post is dedicated to all those who ask for more photos.  So here we go:

Midwife making sure I am healthy

You can only see my foot, but my weight is good

Hanging out with my favourite cousin

My first car ride ever to visit a very special friend of daddy's

Thinking about taking a nap in my crib

The midwives come again today to do the final home visit.  So far Sydney seems to be gaining weight well (just from our observations holding her) and we have been doing well with a bit of a schedule.  Thanks for looking and will post again soon.

Day 3

Today is Sydney's third day with us. Its the day when she sleeps on your chest while you lie on the couch and you remember how much you love her while forgetting her screaming from the night before when she was unhappy with something you had little control over.

Today was also the day for her second home visit and we met with Tayrn who thought Sydney was doing really well. Apparently she is an over-achiever when it comes to pooping. Makes daddy so proud.
She was weighed again and hardly lost any weight, only about 85g (3oz). She has been eating really well.

Other than that i think we are managing to catch up on some much needed rest as we learn to live around Sydney's needs and schedule.

Sydney Anne Thiessen

We are proud to announce to all our family, friends and readers the birth of our first child, Sydney Anne Thiessen.

Weighing in at just 3.00kg and 48.25cm long (that is 6lbs 10oz and 19" for the metric challenged) she is the most beautiful thing we have ever seen.  She was born at 11:43pm on May 16th (11 days early) at home with 3 wonderful midwives from Niagara Midwifery Practice.

So far everyone is doing well and looking forward to a little bit of rest time.

Stay tuned for more updates, including good times to come for a visit.

Our Registry for a Future Farmer

We chose to have a blog because due to our un-traditional nature we found that a lot of items we were interested in are not available at conventional stores (ie. Canadian made). So in the hopes of easing some stress we will be posting our version of a registry here. Please watch for updates as things are purchased or added. You can contact us directly if you purchase an item or feel free to contact one of our parents. If you need a hand with online ordering they will also be able to do that.

You can follow the links below to other blog entries by category:

Contact can be made through one of the following e-mail address:
